The wedding will be in Ludlow, Vermont which is located in the scenic Okemo Valley of Vermont. Central Vermont offers many amenities.  We hope our guest have the opportunity to enjoy some of the splendors of beautiful region of New England.  This will be leaf changing season.  Find out why leaves change color.
 

Hiking
There are a number of opportunities to go hiking in Central Vermont.  It is our hope that our guests will have the opportunity to enjoy some of the spectacular New England fall foliage.  The best place to start is with the US Forest Service's Green Mountain Web-Site.   You may also examine a list of trails in the area.  There are also various trails which are part of the Vermont State Park System.  For some hints we'd recommend the following trails.

  • White Rocks Cliff Trail (3.4 miles round trip)

  • Trail to a unique geological feature.  With 1,450 feet of elevation change, this is a strenuous climb of 2.5 hours with excellent views.

  • Healdville Trail (5.8 miles round trip)

  • Located within Okemo State Forest on Mount Holly.  Highlights include a fire tower on the summit and several vistas along the trail.  With 1,400 feet of elevation change from trail head to summit, the views are wonderful.  Round trip hiking time is roughly 4 hours.
     
  • Weathersfield Trail (5.8 miles round trip)

  • On south side of Ascutney Mountain.  Elevation change of approx. 1400 feet.  The 84 ft. Crystal Cascade water fall is located roughly 1.2 miles from the trail head.  Requires roughly 4.5 hours round trip.

  • Lowell Lake (2.5 mile loop)

  • Easy hike with great views takes roughly 1.5 hours to complete.

  • Quechee Gorge

  • A wonderfully senic park with a trail to the base of Quechee Gorge

    Regional Parks
    If walking up a mountain is not your idea of fun - there are still many great places to grab a seat on the grass and enjoy the view.
  • Camp Plymouth State Park on Echo Lake

  • Located on the east shore of Echo Lake this State Park offers the following amenities
     
  • Emerald Lake State Park

  • A hillside picnic area, as well as lakeside picnic tables are available. An open picnic shelter pavilion can be reserved for large group gatherings. Trails throughout the park and nearby provide great hiking opportunities. Swimming, fishing, and boating (no motors) are popular in the lake.

    Shopping and Antiquing
  • Quechee, VT 

  • This quaint village is small, but there are several nice gems to enjoy here.  A glass factory, an excellent resturant by a spillway dam and several craft shops in the area.  Quechee Gorge is near by.
